Thinking about volunteering this year? Get a head start on the paperwork and background check!
Throughout the year, your student’s teacher may ask for volunteers for a field trip, classroom activity, etc. If you are planning to volunteer, the SFSD requires ALL volunteers to complete the Volunteer Registration Form. Here is the link to the form: https://core-docs.s3.amazonaws.com/documents/asset/uploaded_file/1745852/Volunteer_Registration_Form_2023.pdf . You can email the completed form to Jasmine.Iddings@k12.sd.us, fax it to 605-362-3535, or drop it off in the office.
In addition to the volunteer form, the SFSD requires a background check for certain volunteer activities. For example, if you are:
- driving for a field trip where you are transporting students.
- leading a group of students through a museum.
The background check can take a few weeks and is good for one year from the date it was approved. For example, if your background check was approved on March 14, 2024, it will expire on March 14, 2025. To complete the background check, go to: https://phl.applitrack.com/siouxfallsvolunteers/onlineapp/_application.aspx?starting=true

Even though we had to cancel Field Day yesterday due to the weather, it didn’t stop us from having some fun inside! Students participated in friendly competitions of relay races and tug of war against other grade level classrooms. So much fun and excitement, along with great sportsmanship! Here's a few grade levels enjoying tug of war: https://youtu.be/vMT6c03nviI !

Due to tomorrow’s anticipated weather (showers, thunderstorms), Field Day has been cancelled and will not be rescheduled. The day will run as normal.
